So you have your goal – or let’s just call it a dream.
And you are already shuffling towards it.
But then some people see you going and they decide that they want to have a little chat with you. They say it’s about something important. They say they love you. And maybe that’s because they are your parents. Or even your best friends. So they lean in to tell you what they’ve got for you.
They point out to the dream, to the goal you are trying to achieve.
They point out to the direction you are striding towards.
They point out to the person you are trying to become.
They say, that isn’t you.
They say, that isn’t us.
They show you how you aren’t cut out to be any of that.
They scare you with the time it will take you to achieve your goal.
They even show you the statistics.
They tell you how people from your background have never done such a thing.
And you know deep inside you that they are somehow right… and even more, you know that it’s something you’ve never done it before. You don’t even know how to do it. All you know is that that’s the direction you want to go.
So you listen to them.
You think about what they have said to you.
You think about it for days.
Then one day you think it’s time to decide… but the question is,
Are you going do as they say… or you are going to follow your dreams?
Are you going to be nicer to them or to your goals?
Well, listen to this.
You know, they told Thomas Edison to forget about his quest, after all, he wasn’t even a scientist.
They told Henry Ford that he should simply keep his job, after all his dream was not even possible.
They told Napoleon Hill not to bother with the so-called the law of success, a regular job is far more secure.
They even told me that I should stick with accounting… but you know what?
Don’t listen to them.
This is not just your life, but it’s the only chance you have to enjoy living your dream.
No one has any credible report of where we go after here.
No one has ever been there who can tell us that we have a second chance.
The only chance is now.
If you have a goal you feel it’s important to go for it, don’t even tell anybody. It’s not that important. What’s important is that you go and never return until you get it.
On your way there, don’t even listen to your own negative self-talk.
If that little voice inside you tells you to play safe, then you know that it’s the time to play like you don’t care for the results.
Because here is the thing, anything worth doing, it is worth doing poorly.
So go make your dream come true.
Don’t look at the price that you must pay now… after all, you must pay some kind of price.
So what you should really get concerned about is the fact that in the long run, you will be glad that you listened to yourself.
Remember these words from Henry David Thoreau,
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours.
Have a rich day!
